Q:
Best way to define a common set of values in rails
I'm developing a rails application in which I would like to provide the user with a menu of common values, such as a list of currencies (US, GBP, EUR, etc), currencies rates, etc.
I would like to know how to define these values using a nested or singular resource.
I think I'm thinking along the lines of a menu resource with a list of values nested within it. Is this the correct way to go about it?
A:
You can define a nested resource to make it easier to add new values and to remove them from the list.
resources :menus do
resources :currency_values
end
The form for adding currency values is:
{:controller => "menus", :action => "create"} do |f| %>
The form for editing currency values looks like this: 01e38acffe

To be honest, your thinking that FastPWM is the only game in town is a little short-sighted. It doesn't fit the niche it's trying to fill any better than the alternatives do.
If you want a purely GUI-based driver, get the Coolux GP-32 or GP-33. If you want a fully integrated software-only driver, get the C64FX.
Both of those do feature a GUI with a number of interesting enhancements over FastPWM, especially the C64FX.
As for your query on why C64 is better than the Amiga, that's a harder question to answer. The Amiga was not a (particularly) programmer-friendly platform. It did have a pretty decent BASIC-ish language, but it was never particularly widely used, and it would never ever have gained traction as a general-purpose language like BASIC was for the C64. At least not in the way it did, since the influence from the latter persisted to this day. It has always been a very user-specific platform.
Some things which made it feel user-friendly:
It's first introduction of the GUIO (graphical user interface) concept, which gave a feeling of cleanness and low-level power.
The DOS-compatible MUI (memory utility) allowed easy access to the RAM and ROMs.
The devpac was a really good example of a user-friendly package: easy installation, just follow the instructions and get ready to go.
Many things to be said about the Amiga, but I think these three points are the most important.
